![]() A tier of platforms is placed at the bottom of each screen which Stanley has to navigate while getting into position to fire his spray, and it adds a minor element of strategy when you can't just jump straight up to get Stan right underneath DK every time. So Donkey Kong 3 is more of a shooter than a platformer, but there are some platforming elements to the design. ![]() If you focus all your attention on Kong, you're likely to lose your shot at getting a high score - because if all five of the flowers at the bottom of the screen get grabbed, you'll earn no bonus points even if you manage to tame the ape. You win a round when Donkey Kong's taken so many shots to the rear that he's driven up and off the top of the screen - but, at the same time, you have to make sure you're also taking out the insects trying to capture your flowers. Stanley (with his neck permanently tilted and his gaze fixed upward) moves to the left and right across the bottom of the screen and fires bursts of bugspray straight up into the air to take out the descending bugs, and DK's descending butt. You take on the role of Stanley, and, armed only with a canister of bugspray, it's up to you to blast the worms, bees and Donkey Kong himself in order to drive the invaders out and keep the native flora safe for another day. ![]() The big ape has taken up residence inside the warming walls, and his presence is threatening the health of the flowers growing within - especially since the gorilla's also stirring up swarms of insects that are trying to pluck the plants right out of the ground. Donkey Kong 3 tells Stanley's one and only tale, a story which finds the exterminator trying to drive an invading DK out of his personal greenhouse.
